My Story

I grew up on the West Side of Cleveland, Ohio, a place where you still will find family owned bakeries on many corners throughout the city. And, I miss those little corner bakeries.  Don't get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a Publix bakery, but there is something special about little family owned bakeries and home baked goods that nothing can quite compare to.

I was fortunate enough to grow up with a Mom who is an outstanding cook and also made the absolute best oatmeal cookies in the world, among other treats - they are her specialty to this day.  I was also fortunate enough to have a Dad that was classically trained in Holland as a pastry chef.  My love of baking started when I was little helping Mom and my curiosity grew as I got older to learn how to do "pretty cakes" like my Dad still does for special occasions.

Simply put, I love to bake - I love to bake for family, friends and others who have requested treats throughout the past several years.  I do work a full-time job during the week, however I find baking a stress reliever.  I am an early riser, most days around 3AM.  That is the absolute perfect time to bake!  On most weekends my husband, Michael, has a "baked good" waiting for him when he gets up.

With my husbands encouragement I have started a Cottage Bakery in our home.  He always says I look happy when I am baking, and even happier when I serve a treat to our friends delight after dinner.
